Deciding to start a blog about my journey as a black woman in the United States and all that it entails isn't one that I take lightly.
I have a lot going on in my life, and I do a fair amount of writing already. However, I needed a place to speak on my journey as a black woman in a country built on my ancestors that remains hostile to us.
I need to talk about my own self-discovery, cultural awakening and the embracing of all the emotions and struggles that come from understanding and dealing with the reality of being rooted in royalty and birthed through a struggle that is still ongoing today.
I need a place to express my thoughts and opinions about the world in general and not stress people out with social media updates. I figure that if you follow my blog, you want to hear what I have to say versus being associated with me in other venues.
This is about me and my journey. You are welcome to come along and walk with me, sharing your journey as well. You may not agree with all that I have to say, just respect that I have the right to say it here, in this place.
Respect my blog as you would my house. Don't enter if you don't like me, let's not be false. Don't come in with the intent to steal, you may share my content but don't claim it as your own. Don't expect that I will always have time to entertain you. This is my house/blog and at times I may simply want to express myself and not engage in discussion.
